How to Receive Food Assistance

Lake Cares Food Pantry provides food to Lake County residents in need. The process is simple and designed to ensure you get the help you need as quickly as possible.

New Clients – Getting Started

If you have never received food from Lake Cares before, and need food assistance we’re happy to help! Please call us at 352-383-0100 to schedule an appointment. Appointments are made based on the next available opening.

What to bring to your appointment:

✔ A photo ID
✔ Proof of Lake County residency (such as a utility bill)

There are many reasons why people seek our assistance, and whatever your situation may be, please know that we are here to help.

Active Clients – Scheduling Your Next Appointment

If you are already receiving assistance, you can schedule your next appointment before you leave on distribution days. If you need to reschedule, cancel, or have any questions, please call our office—we’re happy to assist you!

What to Expect During Your Visit

Whether you’re visiting for the first time or returning for assistance, the process remains the same:

1️⃣ Check-in – When you arrive, a volunteer will greet you and have you sign in for your appointment.
2️⃣ File Update – Once your number is called, we will create or update your file with your current information.
3️⃣ Meeting with an Interviewer – You’ll have the opportunity to discuss your needs and make your personal selections for the day.
4️⃣ Food Pickup – Our dedicated pantry volunteers will quickly assemble your food and personal items. We’ll even help you load everything into your car!
